Morning and evening events will be held on Tuesday, May 29, at the BankAtlantic Center in the City of Sunrise to launch the new 595 Express Bus Service. At 7:30 a.m., join the ride along with passengers on the bus trip to Fort Lauderdale and from 4 to 6 p.m. participate in a meet and greet and enjoy refreshments. The new 595 Express Bus Service service will operate two routes between the BankAtlantic Center to downtown Fort Lauderdale and to downtown Miami/Brickell every 30 minutes on weekdays during morning and afternoon peak hours. To inform the public about the dangers of texting and driving, the Broward Regional Emergency Medical Services Council has launched an educational campaign, "Take 5 to Stay Alive. Don't Text and Drive." The current PSA video announcement, one of many educational tools to teach the public about the dangers of texting and driving, features Gabby Chaves, a Formula race car driver and Western High School honor student. Chaves' message, which is available in both English and Spanish, makes it clear that driving, whether in a race car or out on the street requires total concentration and texting while driving is not an option. |

Broward County Library has published its first eBook, The Bienes Museum Catalogs of James A. Findlay. The publication honors the work of librarian and curator James A. Findlay, who served as director of the Bienes Museum of the Modern Book, a rare books and special collections library located at Main Library in downtown Fort Lauderdale. This eBook is the first of many which will showcase, through digitization, special collections that can now be easily and economically shared online with all Broward County residents and the world.
